Day Three--Bunratty Castle and Folk Park
After Kylemore Abbey, we ate dinner at a hole in the wall (which was surprisingly good and fairly inexpensive), then went to our B&B where we crashed for a bit. Unfortunately, we were still somewhat jet-lagged because we were up from about 3:00 to 6:00 in the morning... But then we fell back to sleep until 8:30.
When we awoke, we had a quick breakfast, grabbed a cab to the bus station, then took the bus out to Bunratty Castle and Folk Park.
I thought the castle was interesting--although the myriad of stairways was a bit confusing, not to mention steep.
One of my favorite rooms was the Great Room, with a fire pit right square in the center of the room.
I also thought the kitchen was interesting, such as it was. So very different from a modern kitchen... so NOT what we're used to seeing!
But my favorite room, in terms of sheer opulance, had to be the private chappel.
Next up: The Folk Park and the Banquet at Bunratty Castle. Stay tuned, Kids!
