More Words Without Pictures

My head hurts like a motherfucker. I don’t know why—I’ve done everything I can think of to make it stop, but it hasn’t. Fortunately, it doesn’t hurt so bad anymore that it makes me want to puke like it did this morning.

We got our Christmas tree yesterday. Have I mentioned that we have 10 feet ceilings? Oh yeah, baby, this is an OLD house! The tree comes to within 6 inches of the ceiling. It’s HUGE and I LOVE IT!

I’ve been frantic busy trying to finish this project I’ve been commissioned to do, so I sat and knitted while Kate and the kids decorated the tree. Unfortunately, I still haven’t found my camera, so I didn’t get any pictures of that. Kate got some, but she can’t upload onto my computer and we don’t have our wireless network set up yet, so she can’t get them onto Flickr on her computer. Yeah, I know. It’s a pain in the ass. Some day soon though, you’re going to get this MONDO photo post and it’s going to knock your socks off (or, you know, maybe just crash your computer).

Anyway—life is settling in comfortably. Kate, Jeff and my mom have been totally kicking ass with the unpacking of boxes. We have a living room, an entry room (I don’t know yet if we’re going to refer to that as the entry, the music room, or the library. We’re still testing out names), 7/8 of a kitchen, and about 5/6 of a dining room. Just a few more boxes to schlep out of those last 2 rooms… actually I suspect they’ll be done by the time I get home. But hey, don’t go in the bedrooms yet, ok? ‘Cause they’re still a fucking mess.

On Sunday coming up, we’re going to have a birthday party for Emily. She’s turning six on Monday the 18th. We’ve decided to make a to-do about it. Not only did we invite Leslie, her husband, and their 3 kids, we also invited their neighbors who have a 4 yr old (she and Emily have met and play well together), as well as Leslie’s sister, partner, and their 7 yr old daughter, and Leslie’s mom and dad (just ‘cause they’re cool).

Then we figured what the fuck, and we invited the neighbors from either side of us and the ones in the 4-houses most directly across the street from us.

We’re going to have a house full—our first party! I promise SOMEONE will take pictures.

One last thing: My job is getting better every day. So Merry Christmas to me. Yay!
